Embracing a Whole New
Level of Care
A RECOGNIZED LEADER
IN SENIOR CARE
Presbyterian
Homes of Georgia now offers a cutting-edge memory support
assisted living called Hearthstone at Presbyterian Village in
Austell, Georgia.

Designed by international architect J.
David Hoglund, Hearthstone at Presbyterian Village is specially
created for those affected by Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.
Located at Presbyterian Village’s renowned
continuing care retirement community, Hearthstone provides
leading-edge memory support programming and an outstanding
standard of care. Among the first of its kind in the Southeast,
our unique living center provides a secure and flexible
environment, enabling us to meet the individual needs of each
resident.
BETTER BY DESIGN
Hearthstone at Presbyterian Village
features a two-story residential community with 40 private
apartments and four suites to accommodate two people each, as
well as flexible activity space.
Our
residential center is built around the traditional heart of
every home – the kitchen.

On each
floor our living accommodations open onto a home-like country
kitchen, offering safe, yet open dining access. Also on each
floor, a fireplace warms the comfortable great room and provides
a welcoming place to gather. Secure garden courtyards and
walking paths allow for outdoor respites.

Additionally, Hearthstone is adjacent to
the Whitley and Marian Morris Health Services Center at
Presbyterian Village, which includes a 30-bed special care unit
to accommodate residents with more advanced stages of
Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. This close proximity enables a
smooth transition when residents require further care.
WHOLE NEW LEVEL OF CARE
At Hearthstone, we believe in a
person-centered care approach, involving staff members,
residents, family and friends. Our resident care associates are
specially trained to work with persons affected by dementia.
Moreover, they are committed to personally knowing each resident
in their care and delivering highly individualized attention.
For example, if a resident enjoys
gardening, then gardening activities are included in his
schedule. If music is important to a person, then she is
encouraged in that direction. Family members play an important
role in determining schedules and activities. In fact, the input
of family members is necessary; a family’s interaction with
their loved one and our staff is invaluable.
Persons with dementia often prefer
routine. Hearthstone respects individual choice as to when to
rise, dine, ready for the day and participate in activities.
Rather than residents adapting to a singular, regimented
schedule, our flexible and round-the-clock programming ensures
that each resident’s needs are met at the highest level of
excellence.
At Hearthstone, excellence also means
emphasizing wellness and attending to the whole person – body,
mind and spirit. We offer wellness classes several times per
week. Our chaplain attends to spiritual needs.
