Ways to Give | Development Team | Contact Us

Presbyterian Homes is a ministry of love. You see it in the giving of time, talent, and treasure by thousands of supporters. You see it in our caring staff, administration, volunteers, supporters, and Board of Trustees. You see it in the lasting covenant we share with Presbyterian churches statewide. Most especially, you see it in the faces of our residents, confident in this covenant relationship.

The Caring Hands Fund benefits our most vulnerable residents. Monies are used largely to bridge the $4 million gap between Medicare reimbursement and the actual cost of the high quality of care that we provide for our health services residents. Almost 85 percent of our charitable expenditures are used to cover this cost. Caring Hands donations also allow in-home services to help residents in independent apartment homes maintain their independence.

"Since 1949, no resident has been asked to leave Presbyterian Homes of Georgia because they have outlived their finances."

Ways to Give

The current economy is testing Presbyterian Homes mission like no other time in our history. The number of seniors in need increases, even as charitable giving and government funding is down. For many years the sum required to provide charitable care at our communities remained constant approximately $3 million. In 2009 the figure jumped to $4 million, and it is rising higher still. There are many ways to support our ministry.

body_donate2Honorariums and Memorials
Every year hundreds of individuals remember friends and loved ones with a gift to Presbyterian Homes of Georgia. For many it is a comforting way to memorialize a family member who has passed away. For others it is a way to honor a friend, colleague or church associate. Honorariums and memorials support the Caring Hands Fund. To give in memory of or in honor of a friend or loved one, please contact the Development Office at 404-231-5758 or 800-808-3309 or Give Now.

Conant Endowment Fund
In addition to the annual giving of thousands of supporters, the Caring Hands Fund is strengthened through the Miriam and John A. Conant Endowment for Presbyterian Homes. The endowment memorializes the Conants' dedication to the ministry of Presbyterian Homes throughout their lifetime.

For 22 years, these beloved philanthropists brought their special leadership to several capital campaigns for Presbyterian Homes. Shortly before his passing in 2005, Mr. Conant issued an exciting financial challenge, which enabled Presbyterian Homes to substantially grow our Endowment Fund. Endowment is at the very heart of this ministry. It is a means of ensuring that for those residents whose personal funds have been depleted, Presbyterian Homes will be able to provide exceptional care today and for many years to come. To support the Endowment Fund, please contact the Development Office at 404-231-5758 or 800-808-3309 or Give Now.

Your annual gifts to the Caring Hands Fund make a tremendous difference in the lives of our residents. Did you know that you can also help ensure the future of our ministry through planned giving? Through bequests, charitable gift annuities, and deferred payment gift annuities, you can make a meaningful gift and a lasting legacy.

Planned giving allows you to balance financial goals for you and your family, support the future of our ministry, and even earn significant tax benefits today. As you organize your estate planning, we hope you will consider Presbyterian Homes of Georgia. To discuss the many ways to make a lasting gift a faithful promise to Presbyterian Homes of Georgia, please contact the Development Office at 404-231-5758 or 800-808-3309.

Mother's Day Offering
More than 200 Presbyterian churches along with hundreds of individual donors statewide participate in the annual Mother's Day Offering, which benefits the Caring Hands Fund. One of life's great blessings is the opportunity to honor those who touched our lives by giving back to God's most senior children. Your support enables Presbyterian Homes to provide exceptional care for our frail and aging residents. We can provide materials to help every church make the Mother's Day Offering a success.

Christmas Angel Offering
Christmas brings the opportunity to support our Christmas Angel Appeal for the Caring Hands Fund. These gifts are especially needed in this challenging economy. Presbyterian Homes sends a Christmas Angel Offering request to friends and supporters statewide. Financial support is deeply appreciated as are the hundreds of return angel cards, signed and personalized by donors, for our frailest residents.

Santa Claus Express
During the Christmas season, caring individuals and church organizations across the state donate toiletries and small gift items for our nursing care residents and other senior residents in need. The gifts are delivered by the jolly old elf himself at the annual Christmas party. To learn how you can be a part of this special giving opportunity, please contact the Development Office at 404-231-5758.

body_donate4Caring Hands Golf Classic & Ceilidh Auction
Autumn brings our annual golf tournament and fund raising auction. In the first four years alone, the Caring Hands Classic and Ceilidh Auction have raised more than $345,000 to benefit the Caring Hands Fund.

The event kicks off on Sunday evening with a pre-tournament gala. At the Ceilidh (a Gaelic word for party), festivities include a live and silent auction featuring unique gifts as well as golf and vacation packages.

On Monday morning, the action continues on the green at the Atlanta Athletic Club, home of the 2011 PGA Championship. The Classic also features a tournament within a tournament. A church team versus church team challenge to win the Knox Cup, a trophy held for one year by the winning team.

No Dinner Dinner
Every year the Presbyterian Village Auxiliary hosts the No Dinner Dinner to benefit the Caring Hands Fund. Donors appreciate this "non-event" because it is an easy, convenient way to give to a worthwhile cause. Rather than asking supporters to purchase tickets for an actual event, participants are asked simply to select from a host of menu items, such as toiletries, dentures, hair appointments, eyeglasses and prescription drugs for residents in need, and to give at that level. To receive an "invitation" to the next No Dinner Dinner or to select from the donation "menu", please contact the Development Office at 404-231-5758.

Donor Advised Fund (DAF) Giving
A donor advised fund (DAF) is a type of giving program that allows you to combine the most favorable tax benefits with the flexibility to support your favorite charities easily. An increasingly popular charitable vehicle, DAFs are an excellent way to both simplify your charitable giving and facilitate your strategic philanthropic goals.

How does it work?

  1. Establish your DAF by making an irrevocable, tax-deductible donation to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program.
  2. Advise the investment allocation of the donated assets (any investment growth is tax-free).
  3. Recommend grants to qualified public charities of your choice.

If I have a DAF, how do I use the DAFDirect form? (located to the right)

  1. Select the sponsoring organization from the "Donate Now From" field.
  2. Specify "Presbyterian Homes of Georgia" in the “Designation” field.
  3. Enter the amount (in dollars) you would like to recommend in the "Amount" field.
  4. Click on the "NEXT" button to proceed to the sponsoring organization's website to complete your donor advised fund transaction. Please note, you will be directed to an external website to complete your transaction.
